A parade, and a two-minute silence were observed in Exmouth to mark Remembrance Sunday.
The Parade assembled at 10.30am on Imperial Road and marched along Victoria Road before being brought to attention at 10.50am at the war memorial. A bugler played the Last Post just before the two-minute silence at 11am.
Exmouth dignitaries including East Devon MP Simon Jupp and Exmouth Councillors, Exmouth Mayor and town crier Roger Bourgein stood by the war memorial on Exmouth Strand. Simon Jupp also gave a speech just before 11am.
The turnout for the service was very respectable, with around 2,000 people.
In a change to the normal proceedings, there was a speech by a senior retired naval officer, Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope, GCB, OBE, ADC, DL.
In his speech, Sir Mark spoke about the late Queen Elizabeth II, the head of the armed forces. He highlighted her importance to them and also spoke of the Queen's own military service during World War Two.
Local veterans, scout, brownie and cub groups, 299 Squadron Air Cadets, Exmouth Sea Cadets, and the Royal Marine Cadets also joined the parade.
Wreaths were also laid by local orgnisations, youth groups and companies.
