An exhibition of work by local artists is taking place in Colaton Raleigh over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Laura Boyd, Penny Silverthorne, Cynthia Boult, Rowan Turnbull and other local artists and crafters will be displaying their work at the village hall. Paintings, prints, cards and craft items will be available for sale.
Sales from food and drink sold at the exhibition will go to the Sidmouth charity Gateway, which helps homeless people.
Laura Boyd had a successful career producing limited-edition etchings for Buckingham Fine Art Ltd but then decided to devote herself to landscape painting, mainly of East Devon scenes, in acrylic and watercolour. Penny Silverthorne runs her own stationery and noticeboard company, using her own designs, and also sells original paintings, mostly in watercolour.
Rowan Turnbull paints still lifes and landscapes in watercolour; Cynthia Boult retired from teaching art and a career in occupational therapy to work on her landscape painting, mostly working in acrylics.
Laura, Penny and Cynthia have won various prizes in local art society shows including Best in Show trophy in the Exmouth Art Group’s annual show, which Penny won in 2022.
The art exhibition will be open from 10am until 5pm daily from Friday, April 7 until Monday, April 10.
