More than 100 Friends of Budleigh Music Festival enjoyed an autumn soiree in the town’s Public Hall.
The highlight of the evening, on Friday November 3, was a recital by young soprano Isabelle Morris. Accompanied by Alison Burnett, Isabelle delighted the audience with her pure vocals, performing a repertoire ranging from Caccini to Gershwin.
During the event, Festival Chair Kate Somerby told the audience: “I don’t think you realise how significant you are … your subscriptions give us the flexibility to deliver a varied programme of top class music.”
Her words were echoed by Festival Artistic Director Jason Thornton who told the audience “Without you, the Festival couldn’t happen”. Jason also described how much musicians love coming to Budleigh to perform, saying “We have an amazing reputation among the classical music fraternity nationally, and that’s getting wider and bigger all the time”. He then revealed highlights from the varied and impressive programme planned for 2024.
The evening ended with a raffle draw for gifts kindly donated by local businesses, which raised a substantial sum to help support the Festival’s education outreach work.
Budleigh Music Festival 2024 takes place from Sunday 28th June to Saturday 6th July.
