This festive season, Figgy’s are celebrating their most successful year yet, as their artisanal Christmas puddings have been awarded an array of gold awards across three different fine food awards.
20 awards have been given to Figgy’s signature Luxury Handmade Christmas Pudding, made using a unique family recipe, since the company was founded in 2007. This makes it potentially the most celebrated Christmas pudding on the market.
“We believe in upholding the essence of a true Christmas pudding. Quality, tradition, authenticity, and flavour have always been at the heart of our business,” explains Owner and MD, Jo Evans. “We never cut corners, and we always make each and every Christmas pudding as if it were the only one, because that's the quality we would expect if we were our own customers. We never outsource production, ensuring we have full control of the process, resulting in puddings that are as good as homemade. I’m convinced this is why they have won so many awards.”
Figgy’s, based in Woodbury Salterton is a husband-and-wife team, Richard and Joanne Evans, hand make their Christmas puddings from their tiny bakery using an age-old family recipe. The puddings are produced using locally sourced ingredients, such as award-winning Somerset Cider Brandy and Hanlons Port Stout, free-range eggs from the nearby farm shop and handmade breadcrumbs from a local bakery.
The Christmas puddings are made in small batches and are slowly steamed for hours, following tradition. The puddings are then aged and matured; this gives the flavour several months to develop.
Richard says, “When it comes to crafting an exceptional Christmas pudding, time and patience are critical; traditional puddings can’t be rushed. Mass-produced puddings often compromise on texture and density, but with our puddings, they remain light and airy -– they’re easy to eat, even after a full and hearty Christmas dinner!”
Figgy’s multi-award-winning Christmas puddings are the perfect choice for those looking to indulge in a lovingly made festive treat, or those searching for the best gift to give to loved ones.
Figgy’s puddings are available in a wide variety of independent farm shops, delis and garden centers across the UK, or you can order online at www.figgys.co.uk. You can also follow Figgy’s on Instagram and Facebook @figgyspuddings
