East Devon is preparing for a cold snap this week that may bring some snow to the region.
The UK faces a week-long cold snap as days of flooding are followed by plunging temperatures. Sleet and snow showers are due on Monday, with temperatures during the day struggling to get above 4C. Overnight temperatures are also set to drop bringing ice and snow.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for ice and an amber cold health alert has also been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for the South West.
The long-range forecast on the Met Office's website said on Monday (Jan 8) today will be "Generally dry with sunny spells, but a few sleet or snow flurries are possible, mainly in eastern counties, but perhaps more widely later. Feeling cold in the brisk easterly winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
"Tonight will see some "Scattered sleet or snow flurries pushing westwards this evening, perhaps giving a light dusting in places. Turning mainly dry and frosty later. Feeling very cold in the strengthening easterly winds. Minimum temperature -4 °C.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the Met Office says "Any early wintry flurries clearing Cornwall, leaving a dry day with increasing amounts of sunshine. The brisk easterly wind will make it feel raw and like it's below freezing. Maximum temperature 4 °C."
