The first Budleigh Food Market & Crafts of 2024 will take place on Friday, January 26, with around 30 stallholders selling their wares.
The market is held on the last Friday of the month at the Public Hall from 9am until 1pm.
The stallholders include several award-winning Devon food producers and attracts more than 400 shoppers, including visitors from outside the county, bringing much-needed footfall to other businesses in the town.
The market was launched in 2008 and has survived through difficult times, thanks to shoppers continuing to support the community hub of independent local producers and crafters.
Shoppers can buy the following items directly from the local traders: • Homemade jams, pickles, chutneys and marmalades • Local honey • Freshly baked handmade bread, cakes and bakes • Handmade traditional cheeses and dairy produce • Locally grown organic seasonal vegetables • Handmade biscuits and confectionery • Outdoor bred and reared goat, lamb, pork and pheasant • Fresh fish from local boats • Handmade wild game pies • Home cooked fresh authentic Gujarati Indian food • Home cooked fresh authentic Italian food • Speciality teas • Handmade soaps • Handmade gift ideas by local crafters.
Jenifer Tucker, market organiser, said: "We would love to see even more people come through the door. Our traders have so much to offer. There's a perception that prices at markets are higher. Come and be pleasantly surprised. All our traders now take card payments as well as cash.
"We also support the Shop Budleigh collective which was set up in 2023 to help promote the town’s retailers and businesses.”
