Lympstone Under-8s football team braved non-stop rain as they completed a sponsored walk to raise money for training kits and equipment.
The group walked five miles along the cycle track from Exmouth to Lympstone and back again on Sunday, February 25. The walk took around 35 minutes each way.
The event also included a stop at The Swan in Lympstone to celebrate one of the children's eighth birthday, with sausage rolls and chips.
A spokesperson for the football team said: "It was a very rainy day but that didn’t stop their enthusiasm. They filled in sponsor forms and set up a JustGiving page and did really well.
"Mostly they ran, and it was the adults who slowed them down."
The team had set a fundraising goal of £400, but achieved more than double that amount, with donations via JustGiving totalling £978, and further donations made in cash. The money will take the pressure off parents to provide kit for their children, and make the team more inclusive.
