A street collection by Budleigh Salterton Lions Club has brought in more than £500 for Marie Curie UK.
Members Geoff, Jack, Shelley, Tony, Jo and Sue were out in town with their collecting buckets, dressed in the charity's daffodil yellow, on Saturday, March 16 in Budleigh town centre. The total raised was £502.65.
The Lions would like to thank everyone who donated, saying: "Your kindness and generosity is very much appreciated."
The Budleigh Salterton club has been collecting for Marie Curie for many years and has donated thousands of pounds to the charity.
The money will be spent on Marie Curie's crucial caring services, research into terminal illness and campaigning for better end of life care, as well as on improving awareness of the charity and generating future income.
Last year more than 44,000 people received expert hospice care, in their homes or in their hospices, from Marie Curie nurses and healthcare assistants.
Membership to the Lions Club is open to men and women of all ages. Budleigh Lions Club has members who live in Budleigh, Otterton, East Budleigh and Exmouth, and has welcomed several new members over the last four years. Anyone who would like to get involved and make a difference to the local community can contact them via their website www.budleighlions.com or email Secretary@budleighlions.com
