Budleigh Salterton hosted its annual Gala Week and Pebble Dash last week, and ended on the Bank Holiday Monday.
The competition was held on Monday, May 27, starting at 10am. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the tallest freestanding castle and the best design were offered.
Other events included the Budleigh Runners Pebble Dash fun run on the seafront on Sunday May 26, the Children's Pavement Artist Competition, the Big Bumper Breakfast in aid of Cancer Research UK, afternoon teas in aid of Love Budleigh and Force Cancer, coffee mornings in aid of Hospiscare and the RNLI, a horse racing evening was hosteed by the Budleigh Salterton Carnival, the dog show, the Big Budleigh Barn Dance and the South Devon Big Band night, finishing with the Lions quiz night on Sunday, June 2 at the Feathers Hotel in the High Street.
Budleigh Mayor Mike Hillier gave a speech to crowds, organisations and businesses around Budleigh came together to show off their skills, with games for the kids.
Of course, it wouldn't be Gala Week with the Lions Fun Run on Sunday, and a firm family favourite, the Pebble Dash.
Thanks to Peter Bowler for providing pictures of the event to the Journal.
