Organisers of the 2024 Exmouth Festival have announced the festival will return this year, and will be 'bigger and brighter than ever.'

Taking place on July 19 to July 21, its a weekend of free entertainment and activities for everyone to enjoy across the whole town with music, theatre, circus, dance, fitness, art & craft, food & drink and much more.

This year there’s a space theme and a focus on the health of our planet, with a plastic-free market and ecology-focused performances. With music ranging from blues, choirs and folk to world, rock and reggae.

The weekend launches with a parade, walkabouts and carnival-style band Baila La Cumbia, followed by an outdoor Silent Disco in Manor Gardens, while on the seafront Hangtime will hold their popular Sunset DJ Sessions. With three main areas plus satellite events.

Manor Gardens will host family-friendly fun, from music, theatre, circus workshops and shows, art and craft activities, Exeter Science Centre with activities and their VR experience ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and the usual great array of stalls, food, and drink. Music comes from India Electric Co., Batch Gueye, The Andy Quick Band, Hazaar, Our Atlantic Roots, Orange River Remedy and more.

Sideshore is the seafront stage, with lots of young bands plus local favourites like The Barefoot Bandit, Revelation Roots, plus food and drink by Mickeys and Hang Time.

On the plaza there’s a space for informal performance and activity tasters from local groups, plus crafting with the Creative Cabin and marine science activities by Exeter Uni.
Sunday at Sideshore is ‘Earth Day’ which starts with a ‘Silent Chill’ (like a silent disco but with ambient music, spoken word and beanbags), and features a plastic-free market, singing bee children, and music from Kuki and the Bard, Helian and Malavita.

The Pavilion Gardens will host Vintage Afternoon on the Sunday with music from The Sultans, Mama Tokus Quartet and Hat Trick Jazz band, swingin steps from the SW Lindy Hoppers, and vintage entertainment in the Imaginarium.

The Strand will host community choirs, drama and dance groups as well as Suthering, The Secret Notes, a ceildh by Freedom Fields, sampled live-mixed world music from Addictive TV, and latin-jazz from Orpheus.
The grand finale will feature co-ordinated custard pie-throwing, followed by a collective karaoke session courtesy of “bring the sing” Massaoke.

The whole programme will be available on the festival app as well as the website.
This year there’s a space theme, so look out for inflatable planets and alien entertainment, and there will be lots of opportunities to get up and dance, whether it’s a pop-up Time Machine Disco, Avtar’s Bollywood dance-along or learning some swing steps with South West Lindy Hoppers on Vintage Afternoon at the Pavilion Gardens.

There will also be live mural painting on nearby buildings by local artists Garf, Anna Fitzgerald, Slam and Guilherme Lua Pereira, further developing Exmouth’s reputation for vibrant street art.

Jess Magill, organiser said: “The Exmouth Festival is that perfect combination of a community-based festival with a friendly feel, featuring local musicians and artists, but also talent from further afield.

"This year there are lots of ways to participate, whether it be dancing, singing, making art and craft, hands-on science or having a go at plate spinning. We want everyone to get stuck in, try something new and just have fun. Best of all, it’s free for everyone to enjoy.”
