A caravan in a campsite near Woodbury has been destroyed by a fire that broke out on Sunday (June 16).
The fire at the campsite off Oil Mill Lane, between Woodbury and Clyst St Mary, was reported at about 3.30pm. Two fire crews from Dane's Castle and Middlemoor were sent to the incident, and found the caravan fully ablaze, with the fire having spread to a nearby hedge and a transit van.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hosereel jets to extinguish the fire. The caravan was completely destroyed and the van 80 per cent damaged.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental and is not being treated as suspicious.
