A WEATHER warning has been issued as “slow-moving thunderstorms” and “torrential downpours” could cause disruption in Devon.
The warning issued by the Met Office will be in place from 1pm to 9pm today (Friday, July 12).
The latest forecast read: “Slow-moving thunderstorms and torrential downpours may bring disruption to travel and infrastructure.
“While many places will see only small amounts of rain or remain dry, scattered showers are likely to become slow-moving and heavy from early this afternoon.
“Some torrential downpours are possible, bringing the risk of 15-30 mm of rain in an hour, and as much as 40-60 mm in several hours for a few sites in the warning area.
“Hail and lightning may be additional hazards. Showers should slowly ease during the evening.”
Here is what to expect according to the Met Office:

• There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
• Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
• There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
• There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
• There is a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
