An Exmouth care home has opened a mini-pub in its grounds for residents and visitors.

The Southgarth Care Home in Elwyn Road turned a disused cabin in its garden into an inn called The Elwyn Arms. The name was chosen through a poll in which residents voted for their favourite.

The mini-pub offers drinks and bar snacks, and has a dartboard, a record player and a selection of board games.

The Elwyn Arms was opened on Thursday, June 27 by one of the care home's residents, Joan Smith, who enjoys a drink of Guinness with her lunch every day. Joan was joined by her daughter Wendy and son-in-law Andy for the event, which featured a barbecue, music from Lance Vernon, stalls and other entertainment.

The Elwyn Arms is open to residents, visitors and their families and friends.
