An Exmouth care home is launching a campaign to raise £100,000 by the end of its own 100th year.

Rest Haven Care Home in Gussiford Lane wants to expand its community lounge to accommodate all 34 residents, their families, and staff at the same time.

This will create more space for the daily recreation activities as well as for events such as live entertainment and celebrations.

The care home will mark its own centenary in 2025 and is aiming to raise the money by the end of that year. Among the events planned are a sponsored abseil and a 24 Hour Walkathon.

The campaign, called '100k 4 100yrs', will be launched at its annual Garden Party on Saturday, August 10 by Cllr Steve Gazzard. The party itself will raise funds for a new minibus, and will feature music, refreshments, crafts, and a barbecue.

Tickets for the party, which starts at 1.30pm, are £1, which includes homemade cake and a drink. Visitors are advised to pre-book by calling the home on 01395 272374.
