Care home residents were invited to take part in a new gardening project.

The Sow and Grow project, launched by Age UK Devon in April, aims to create opportunities for older people to use their gardening skills, take part in regular activities and make new friends.

Peter Ferlie from Age UK Devon said: "Sow and Grow gives people a reason to spend time outdoors, exercise in the 'green gym', have fun and remain active in later life which will ultimately help maintain independence for longer."

The residents of Raleigh Manor Care Home in Exmouth were invited to join in with the project.

The general manager at Raleigh Manor Care Home said: "Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their green-fingered outing to the plot at Hamilton Lane.

"It was a stunning summer's day and they really made the most of it.

"This is a fantastic new resource for the Exmouth community. Well done to Age UK Devon."

Raleigh Manor Care Home provides residential and dementia care for over 60 residents.

If anyone is interested in taking part in the project, they can contact Age UK Devon on 0333 241 2340 or email info@ageukdevon.org.uk.
