The FunGuys, Mushroom Exmouth & District Community Food Network, have unveiled several food-related activities.

The network, formed last year by people involved in various community projects in Exmouth and the surrounding area, including Open Door, Exmouth Food Bank, The Wave Littleham, Launchpad Wesleys Cafe, and the Budleigh Lions Club, aims to create a sustainable approach to food in the community while reducing waste and increasing access to affordable, healthy food.

Currently part of Transition Exmouth, The FunGuys have initiated a range of activities such as Plant-Based Sharing Suppers, Bread Making Sessions and food-related discussions.

All aim to help develop the network's direction.

The Exmouth Salvation Army has offered its hall on Shepherds Row, in Exmouth's Town Centre, as the venue for these events.

Those interested in getting involved can attend a Plant-Based Sharing Supper on August 26 or September 30, between 6.00pm and 8.00pm.

Attendees are simply asked to bring a bought or homemade vegan dish to share, and to provide a list of ingredients as an aid to those with allergies and to encourage idea sharing.

A pilot session, Saturday Loaf Bread Making Session, has also been scheduled for September 21, from 9.00am to 12.00pm.

Open to individuals, couples, friends, and family groups, attendees will work together to make and bake loaves of bread.

Spaces, however, are limited so be sure to book yours.

Finally, don’t miss the next monthly Over a Bowl of Soup on September 9, 5.30 to 7.00pm.

Here, food-related discussions can be enjoyed over homemade bread and soup, with the September topic being Community Food Buying Co-operatives.

To provide enough soup and bread, they ask that you inform them if you plan to attend.
