The Blue Flag is once again flying over Exmouth Beach as water quality has returned to qualifying levels. 

It has been 10 days since the pollution incident ended, and South West Water has not released any more sewerage in the intervening period. 

A spokesman from East Devon District Council explained that the Blue Flag is more than a symbol of water quality; it represents a commitment to comprehensive beach management, waste management, accessibility, and environmental education. Achieving this status requires meeting strict international standards and has been awarded to Exmouth beach for each of the past 6 years. 

East Devon Council’s officers are responsible for overall beach management and are closely monitoring the situation in Exmouth to ensure the safety of the beach and the wellbeing of its users. The water pollution is out of the council's control, but should any further pollution incidents arise, the Blue Flag will be immediately lowered until the situation is fully resolved.
