Exmouth Town Council is calling for volunteers to be part of its emergency response team.
The council is hosting an event on September 18, from 6.30pm to 8pm at Exmouth Town Hall.
Attendees will hear from the Environment Agency, East Devon District Council and Devon and Cornwall Police about the crucial role community readiness and preparedness plays in managing emergencies.
The briefing will also outline types of volunteer assignments for such incidents and how to become a much-needed volunteer.
From keeping an eye on vulnerable residents to being skilled in managing people during an emergency, anyone is welcome to apply.
The council will provide training for all those who step forward to offer their services.
Volunteering presents an opportunity to have a real impact on the community.
It will allow people to gain valuable skills and experience, form long-lasting friendships, understand emergency services operations during incidents and help reinforce resilience for improved community preparedness.
