The Exmouth Photo Group has kick-started its new season at a fresh location.
The first meeting for 2024-25 was held on September 4 at the Salvation Army Hall in Sheppard’s Row.
The club’s chairman, Christine Chittock, extended a warm welcome to members and visitors.
She said: "Our Photo Group has much to offer with our programme of guest lecturers, members’ project evenings, workshops and an open evening to showcase our work."
The night began with a talk from Andrew Cutler, community mission manager at Exmouth Salvation Army.
He invited members to take part in a photographic project showcasing the Salvation Army’s work in the community, including food banks, lunch clubs, brass bands, and concerts.
The project will culminate in a photographic display in the Salvation Army Hall in 2025, marking the 140th anniversary of the Salvation Army in East Devon.
Lynn Middleton-Flynn, the club’s programme secretary, highlighted a packed schedule of activities, including a guest lecture on October 9 by Matt Curtin on Capturing the Magic: Iconic Scenes of Devon and Cornwall.
Sheila Haycox, vice chair, invited the audience to view images from the 2024 Western Counties Photographic Federation Members Exhibition, which had nearly 2,500 entries from members across six counties.
Five members of Exmouth Photo Group had images selected, some of which met the standard for various awards.
The group’s open evening on September 18 will provide an opportunity for members and visitors to see a display of prints, audio-visual presentations, and members’ favourite images.
More information about the group’s weekly meetings and the Audio Visual Group and Image Maker’s Group, which both meet monthly on Tuesday evenings, will be available.
A spokesman for the group said: "As a group we love taking and processing images but we are also a very friendly group.
"At the open evening, members can socialise, meet visitors and chat while enjoying snacks and soft drinks.
"Anyone interested in photography and the opportunity to improve their skills will be made most welcome."
