A section of Exmouth Parade, from Number 9 to Number 27 will be closed to traffic from October 10.
South West Water say they need to carry out 'essential works' on one of their assets. To carry out the work safely and efficiently the road will be closed.
To ensure disruption to businesses and residents is kept to a minimum, a diversion has been agreed. Signs will be in place to navigate road users.
South West Water said: "Please be assured, emergency services have been told that the road will be closed, and in the unlikely event of an emergency we will work with them to provide access to any affected parties.
If you need any further information, contact the South West Water helpline on 0344 346 2020.
A South West Water spokesman added: "Thank you for your patience and understanding while we carry out this essential work. We would like to assure you that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum and the work will be completed as soon as possible."
