A tourist information service is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The Exmouth Town Council service, which provides information for visitors and residents, has grown significantly since its inception in 2014.

It began as a seasonal initiative in a summer house on The Strand but has now evolved into a year-round operation with permanent premises in the heart of Exmouth.

The service has been instrumental in providing information on attractions, events, and activities.

It's run by a team of 15 volunteers, who have been key to its success.

Their commitment and enthusiasm have helped the Tourist Information Service become a crucial part of the town's support for tourism and community engagement.

The service was set up in 2014 after the council identified a need for a central point where visitors could receive information and guidance.

Led by Councillor Bill Nash, the initiative has grown over the years, expanding its offerings and securing permanent premises that reflect its importance to the town.

The Tourist Information Service has not only assisted visitors but also played a role in promoting businesses, attractions, and events.

The council celebrated this milestone at an event at A La Ronde to thank the volunteers and reflect on the service’s journey.

Lisa Bowman, town clerk of Exmouth Town Council, said: "We are extremely proud of the growth and success of the Tourist Information Service over the past 10 years.

"From its modest beginnings to the thriving operation it is today, this achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers.

"They have helped to make Exmouth a welcoming and informative destination for everyone who visits."

As Exmouth continues to attract visitors from near and far, the Tourist Information Service remains a cornerstone of the town's commitment to tourism.

With plans to further enhance its offerings, including digital services and more partnerships with local businesses, Exmouth Town Council is excited about what the next decade will bring.
