An unnamed 17-year-old boy from Devon has been convicted of a robbery that happened in Topsham in 2023.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, attended Exeter Youth Court on Thursday 3 October. He was given a 12-month intense referral order, a residence and depravation order, he was ordered to carry out 100 unpaid hours and ordered to pay £500 in compensation.
Officers were called to Majorfield Road in Topsham on Wednesday December 20 2023 after reports of a robbery.
The victim had been approached by the teenager after arranging to meet a stranger to buy a computer which had been advertised on Facebook Marketplace.
The teen then assaulted the victim in the arm with a knife before fleeing the scene.
The victim received minor injuries and attended hospital.
Exeter CID launched an investigation followed by an appeal and the offender was later identified and charged.
Detective Inspector Mike Doidge said: “This was a particularly nasty and calculated attack which the offender has admitted to.
“We would like to thank the victims for coming forward and working with us to ensure the offender was located and convicted.”
