A generous donation has enhanced school life for pupils.
St Peter’s Primary School received a large collection of jigsaw puzzles, complete with a dedicated table and jigsaw board, from an anonymous donor.
The puzzles, located in the games section of the school library, have quickly become a favourite activity for the children, providing a "calm, engaging alternative to more active play".
Children have been using the puzzles during lunchtimes, playtimes, and choosing time, either working together on a large puzzle or independently on intricate designs.
The school has highlighted the educational and developmental benefits of jigsaws, noting their role in improving problem-solving skills, concentration, and logical and spatial thinking.
The puzzles also aid in developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
For the younger pupils, jigsaws are said to foster perseverance and patience.
The school expressed its gratitude for the donation, stating that it has enriched the school environment by providing pupils with a constructive and stimulating activity during their free time.
The jigsaws are now considered an integral part of the library’s games section.
The school believes in the value of play in developing well-rounded, engaged learners and anticipates that the jigsaws will continue to support pupils’ growth both academically and personally for many years to come.
The school said: "The generosity of our anonymous donor has given our pupils the opportunity to enjoy a constructive and stimulating activity during their free time."
