The Bicton Inn says it is proud to announce that due to the hard work of our very own Alison and Sally, we have won not one, but two awards for our wonderful flower display this season.
The work by Alison and Sally has won a ‘Level 5 - Outstanding’ from The Royal Horticultural Society and South West in Bloom - It’s Your Neighbourhood in the category ‘Exmouth, Bicton Inn and Immediate Area’, which is a neighbourhood scheme for volunteer-led community gardening projects.
The pair were also awarded 2nd Place in the South West in Bloom Sean Cregan Trophy (Best Floral Public House).
This award covers pubs that have taken part across the South West from Bristol, Cornwall, Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and most of Wiltshire.
The Pony Chew Valley in Chew Magna won first place, and to The Ship in Portishead for achieving third place.
On winning the award, a spokesman for the pub said: "As you all may know, our display this season (among other events) was in honour of, and to raise money for the South West Blood Bikes, The RNLI, and the Devon Air Ambulance. Many of you have seen our beautiful Tree of Life board, designed by the incredibly talented Gary Nash, where each person could add their fingerprint to the leaves after a donation.
"The tree will remain in the pub for a short while longer if anyone wishes to make a donation and add their fingerprint.
"We want to offer a huge thank you to our wonderful patrons who have donated, and all those who have admired our display whether in passing or on a visit, without you all none of this would be possible! We look forward to sharing our next display with you all."
