Exmouth’s Ben Cornish and his INEOS team endured a brutal start to the Prada Cup in New Zealand last weekend.
In the final of the Challenger Series, with a place in the America’s Cup on the line, INEOS fell 4-0 behind to the Italian Luna Rossa team in the best-of-13 final.
Ineos team skipper Ben Ainslie said his crew will need to ‘come out swinging’ if they are to reduce the deficit.
Ineos are attempting to become the first British team to win the America’s Cup but poor starts handed the advantage to their Italian opponents in the first two races.
Luna Rossa then won two more races in Auckland and it will take an almighty recovery from Ineos to get back into contention.
They will have some extra time to prepare, as the next race scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed due to a lockdown in New Zealand.
