Topsham Rugby Club returned from a tricky trip to Bude with five tries and all five points in a captivating 31 – 25 victory on the North Cornwall coast.
As expected, it was a bruising encounter between two physically powerful sides and Topsham were a point down at the half-time interval. The game changed with a three-try burst from Topsham early in the second half.
To their credit, Bude recovered from the onslaught to move within six points at the end and earn a bonus point, but Topsham had done enough for a great win. The tries were scored by Dec Hadley, Ethan Bernaschone, Dan Mather, Robin Edbrooke and Luke Edwardson, with Pat Gibbs scoring the extras.
Jimmy Illsley, Steve Ashford and Will House all scored doubles as Topsham 2nds overpowered Plymstock Albion Oaks 2nds with a 53 – 12 victory, bagging all five points in the process.
