East Budleigh Reserves held a 93-goal Exeter University side to a goalless draw last Saturday.
From the first whistle to the last, the Jays restricted their slick young opponents to a few chances.
In fact, the home side that went closest when Brad Hill left two defenders on the floor cutting in from the wing before his scuffed left-foot shot hit the foot of the post.
The Budleigh back four of captain Owen Corrick, Lewis Fletcher, Dan Atkinson and Man of the Match Guy Laverock defended well as a unit in front of ‘keeper Chris Wardle. They were ably supported by the midfield and frontman Jack Howarth.
To prove want a good result this was, this was the first game of the season in which the Exeter side had not found the back of the net. This Saturday Budleigh will look to go one better when they host Elmore, whilst the first-team return to action at Bow.
