The premier Devon pro clubs are busily preparing for the new football season with new signings and pre-season fixtures coming thick and fast.
Exeter City landed their fifth signing of the summer with the arrival of midfielder Ryan Trevitt on loan from Brentford.
Manager Gary Caldwell told the club website: "Ryan is someone I've been looking at since January.
"He has a big future ahead of him. I spent a day last season at Brentford to watch him and speak to the staff to see how they do things, and I got to see him score and assist in the Premier League Cup.
"I was really excited that night and we have worked really hard to bring him here. He is an old school midfielder who can do everything. He can control in the deeper positions but can also arrive in the box to score and assist.
"His quality is one thing, but his versatility is brilliant as well."
The Grecians travelled to Taunton Town on Tuesday night and take on Torquay United this weekend, games that come hot on the heels of a 0-0 draw at Bath City.
Caldwell used the game to get more ‘minutes in the legs’ and he described the game as “a good run out as the boys have had another difficult week, so it was a good test."
Down the road at Plymouth Argyle, the Pilgrims are getting ready for a return to Championship and landed the major signing of forward Morgan Whittaker from Swansea City in a club-record deal.
Whittaker spent the first half of last season on loan at Argyle, scoring nine goals in his 25 games in the green shirt. Whittaker’s stunning form for the Pilgrims led to a recall by Swansea but Plymouth manager Steven Schumacher now has his man on a permanent transfer.
Argyle were at Plainmoor to play Torquay on Tuesday night and stepped up their pre-season campaign with a solid 2-1 win at Blackpool on Saturday. First-half goals from Mickel Miller and Ryan Hardie were enough to secure the win over the Tangerines.
