The summer is nearly over at Phear Park Bowls Club and some of the internal competitions have been completed, writes Mike Killoran.
Heather Salter has been in fabulous form this season, adding the Ladies two wood trophy to her previous victory, while Sarah Westacott won the John Tucker trophy, which is a knock-out event played over up to 40 ends.
The internal competitions continued with Bob Pemberton winning the Captains Trophy, receiving the cup from Club Captain Bryan Stone.
As well as the internal comps, the last week has seen two local derby games at Phear Park with Topsham followed by Madeira both playing teams from the bowls club.
Fortunately, Phear Park were able to record wins in both games, which were played in excellent weather and a very friendly team spirit.
It has been a great summer at Phear Park and let’s hope for some September sun to continue the bowls.
