Exmouth Rugby Women kick-started their inaugural season in the Inner Warrior League with a game against Falmouth Eagles WXV.
A fantastic start saw the Cockles win 22-15 in a very entraining, competitive game. Georgia Kew scored a hat-trick of tries, with Emily Masters adding a fourth bonus point try. Harley Paver added a conversion.
A lot of hard work and effort, from all the players, some never having played before, coupled with coaching and support with the club, ensured a fabulous start. Lead Coach Claudia MacDonald, away with England, Ebony Jefferies with Brooke Bradley and Withycombe Ladies all worked together with Exmouth Women to get a fabulous start. Ultimately, it was the ladies on the day who turned in a great performance.
Next up is a home game with Plymstock Albion Oaks on Sunday, November 5, kick off at 2.00 pm.

On Saturday, Exmouth Rugby 1st Team head to Devonport Services RFC. At home, Exmouth Quins take on Withycombe at 2.30 pm. Also at Royal Avenue, the Colts tackle South Molton Colts at 1pm, in front of a large crowd including past players across the generations of The Cockles. Last Saturday’s torrential rain turned into pretty good timing for the Tribute South West Rugby League.
Exeter Chiefs’ ‘hybrid’ pitch at Sandy Park may have ensured business as usual – and how they took advantage with that 43-0 demolition of Sale.
But the weather must have threatened many other grassroots fixtures, so it was a good job that the SWL took its second seasonal break.
Hostilities are resumed this Saturday, and nowhere are things tighter than in Regional Two where three points separate the top six sides, headed by Wadebridge Camels, Crediton and Sidmouth all on 29pts.
Crediton welcome North Petherton, two points behind, to Blagdon, while Sidmouth go to Chard.
Cullompton will fancy their chances of beating Newton Abbot in front of their own supporters, while Topsham (7th) travel to Wadebridge.
