Kieran Wilson’s late goal secured a 2-2 draw for Exeter City’s Under-18s on Saturday when they faced Newport County U18s at the Cliff Hill Training Ground.
On 27 minutes, County broke the deadlock from a corner when Nelson Sanca climbed highest to power a header in from close range.
The Devon club's press often caused their opponents problems, and that aggressive intent helped the home side find a leveller moments before half-time.
A short backpass left the Newport goalkeeper short before, the resulting clearance deflected to George Birch. The Exeter playmaker lofted the ball over the stranded shot-stopper and into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
With 10 minutes remaining, Ryan Shallis' curling effort restored Newport’s lead but Exeter found that priceless equaliser when Wilson powered into the box with a mazy run. The forward slipped the ball inside the near post to score a dramatic equaliser and send the home supporters into jubilation.
