The Robinettes restarted from the Christmas break with a hard-earned 1-1 draw to stay top of the Devon Women’s Football League, writes SpursTom.
Teignmouth took the lead with a penalty on 33 minutes and, as so often happens, it was an ex-player doing the deed, former Budleigh skipper Suzy Osborne converting the spot-kick to deservedly take her side 1-0 ahead at half-time.
Teignmouth opened the second period on the attack but the hosts started fighting back, although neither side could find that important finishing touch in the last third of the field. Many corners were conceded, but they were all easily dealt with but that changed in the closing period.
A Budleigh corner came in from their left wing, back-headed by Jodie Millett, where debutant Tilly Avery, who had come on as a substitute, put pressure on the defender, causing her to head into her own goal to the relief of the Robinettes.
