Budleigh Salterton Women go into the draw for the next round of the Graddon Vending Devon County FA Women’s Senior Cup after an excellent win over Exeter City 2nds, writes SpursTom.
The Robinettes went ahead early, when Jen Cordwell forced the ball home following a goalmouth scramble. Goalkeeper Ashleigh Jade Brown produced an outstanding save to prevent an equalizer by twisting to hold the ball caught by the wind. Both teams came close before a Kirsty Brown wind-assisted special deceived the Exeter City ‘keeper to float into the net.
The home side were thankful for the that two-goal lead, whilst Exeter City, who spent the majority of the second period camped in their opponents half, were wondering how they never scored. They even had a penalty kept out by ‘keeper Brown, who with her two reaction saves, in my opinion made her Budleigh’s player of the match.
