Budleigh Salterton Women suffered a heartbreaking penalty shoot-out defeat at home to Bradworthy in the Devon Women’s League Cup quarter-final, writes SpursTom.
The Robinettes had clawed themselves back from going a goal down in the early part of the match and, also having a player red carded before the break.
It got even worse for them, conceding a second goal within two minutes of the commencement of the restart, and losing two influential players.
The Robinettes showed why they are toping the Premier Division Table, by recovering from these setbacks. Tahla Williams pulled one back, before Maisie Smith equalised midway through the half.
The game ended 2-2 after 90 minutes and straight to penalties. Both sides missed one, leaving it at 4-4. Bradworthy converted the first of the sudden death spot kicks, alas for the Budleigh faithful, theirs was saved to go out 4-5.
A very good contest overall and best of luck to Bradworthy.
