The next generation of female rugby talent is flourishing at Exmouth RFC, with Chloe, Rose, Izzy, Laila and Annabelle (all pictured) representing the Devon County U16 squad in recent victories over Dorset and Wiltshire.
On the adult scene, there was a fabulous local derby in the mud featuring Withycombe RFC Ladies versus the Sidmouth Valkyries at Bicton College.
In tricky conditions, both sides demonstrated a defensive masterclass in the first half, and a rugby rarity of a blank scoreline. Eventually, the attacking players began to find space and the Withies squeezed their way to an 8-5 victory, thanks to a try from full-back Bridget Culver and a Georgia Skelly penalty.
It was also a low-scoring affair for Withycombe men, as they were just edged out in a 12-7 defeat to Exeter Saracens. Joe Graham dotted down for the Withies but the Sarries took the win with clinical kicking from penalties.
