Police Social Club ‘A’ have been crowned champions of the Exmouth Snooker League, seven points clear of their nearest rivals.
Rob Pow 63-23, Carl Rowsell 69-25 and George Webster 77-43 overcame the loss of the opening frames from Alan Farrant 77(37)-55 and Bert Savage 56-28 of East Budleigh ‘A’. These two points won by East Budleigh ‘A’ mean they avoid retaining the wooden spoon.
In their final fixture, Steve Spinner 47-36, Mike Delahaye 68-66, Carl Rowsell 83-66 and George Webster 98-54 beat off the challenge of the Police ‘C’. Thanks to Bob Alexander winning the third frame 63-29, the ‘C’ team are runners-up in the table.
Last season’s runners-up, Police S.C.’D’ are relegated to third after a heavy defeat against the Police ‘B’. Terry Merrick 86-42, Dave Thomas 59-20, David Binmore 82-70 and Jake Ford 93-43 were denied maximum points by Dan Brown’s black-ball steal 79-67. Despite this fine win, the Police ‘B’ take the wooden spoon.
