Former Torquay winger Lee Sharpe has told BetVictor that he believes the supporter-led consortium’s proposed takeover of the club is the best option for the Gulls moving forward.
He said: “I just hope the club gets saved. It’s a wonderful town down there and it was a fantastic little club when I played – I know things have turned a little bit sour but it’s still a wonderful place.
“You want it to be the right consortium – if it’s something fan-led who know what’s best for the club and they’re able to get the right people to invest and the right people in staff roles then I’m all for it.
“It’s a slow process but they need to start rebuilding, but if the supporters can have a vested interest in the club then I’m sure that’s the right way forward.”
