Exmouth Town U9s fought hard but fell to two 2-0 defeats to local rivals Brixington Blues UTD U9s.
The fixture took place on the evening of August 26.
It got off to a very quick start, with the Blues seizing an early lead against a disorganised Exmouth Town.
Effortlessly maintaining control throughout the match, it was clear Blues' were not going to give away their lead easily.t
They showed a disciplined defence with Isaac Pond and Ronnie Merriman, as well as equally impressive saves by Cooper Joyner.
Blues' domination of the field was further apparent by the dynamism of Frankie Bradford and Casper Filutkowski, their flank play causing chaos for the Exmouth Town defence.
The flair on display was also on display thanks to Mathew Burt and Rocco Hill's poised ball-handling skills.
The icing on the cake, however, was provided by Hill's superb finishing touch; combining precision with pace, he relayed the ball into the far corner for the 2-0 victory.
The second match was no less competitive with Blues relentlessly probing Exmouth Town's defences.
The deadlock was broken courtesy of a determined Isaac Pond, who won a pivotal tackle before connecting with Mathew Burt.
Max Guyan, in his usual goal-scoring form, completed the sequence with a deft tap in.
Exmouth Town attempted to level the game humbling Blues' advances with continued defensive pressure.
However, Cooper Joyner, resolute in his stance, made a series of excellent saves to maintain Blues' lead.
With fatigue creeping into play, Blues capitalized on a through ball to the swift Bradford, who effortlessly netted from 15 yards.
The game nearly saw a third for Blues, when Pond made a spectacular attempt, only to be foiled by an exceptional save by the Exmouth Town keeper, sealing the final score at 2-0 to Blues.
This spirited performance by the Blues U9s truly left a mark on the evening.
