Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club's (BSCC) junior teams have enjoyed a strong start to the season.
Most fixtures remained undisturbed by the weather and strengthened by the additions of great new players.
On May 12, the U14s faced Kilmington away, securing a win by 59 runs.
The final tallies were BSCC at 110 for 5, and Kilmington u14s 51 all out.
The team's initial momentum was set up by Ted, Isla, and Jude.
This was followed up by top scorer, Charlie Cooling and the hard-hitting Ben Picton.
The opening bowlers, Henry and Daniel, dispatched most of the top order with their pace, while Oscar tricked the middle order with his spin.
The fielding was equally energetic, topped off with Theo's impressive keeping, conceding only a single bye.
A few days later on May 15, the U12s played a friendly match at The Holt against Topsham St James.
They secured a 14 run win, with Budleigh Salterton U12 at 118/4 and Topsham St James 104 all out.
Captain Ben W led the dynamic team, who delivered a strong all round performance.
Noteworthy performances were observed from debutants Sam M, Max H and Dylan I, especially Max who managed a wicket with his first ball.
The next day saw an inexperienced Budleigh U11s team travel to OSM for a cup game.
Budleigh secured 28 for 3 in a challenging game that ended at 29 all out.
A noteworthy partnership developed between Ben Parra and Lucy Dixon, with both securing boundaries and taking risks to get runs on the board.
On May 20, BSCC U14s won against Ottery St Mary U14s with BSCC scoring 93-7 versus OSM’s 73-4.
The remarkable scores came from Daniel Gracie at 19, Ben Picton with 8, and top scorer Alex Roper with 32.
An exceptional display of bowling from BSCC stifled OSM's run opportunity, with the rate swiftly increasing to above 8 an over.
Impressive moments occurred on the field by Charlie Cooling, Theo Campbell, and Ben Picton, along with Daniel Gracie and Oscar Simms tying the bowlers up efficiently.
Whilst the season has just started, the Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club Juniors have set a strong pace.
With such a promising start, spectators anticipate further exciting performances to follow.
Their collective spirit, mixed with distinct individual achievements, provides an optimistic outlook for the rest of the season.
