Exmouth II grabbed a decisive 51-run victory over Uplyme & Lyme Regis in the Devon League C Division East.
A target of 237 runs was an uphill battle for Uplyme, requiring multiple hefty contributions from their batters.
The only major scorers for the visitors were Joe Elsworth, securing 59, and Steve Batey with 37.
With wickets going cheaply towards the end, they finally fell short.
Sam Goodier stood out among the home team, scoring a stunning unbeaten 81.
Prominent contributors also included Josh Austin and Andrew Murray, scoring 37 and 23 respectively.
Extras posed a problem for Uplyme, with Exmouth's 38 additional points becoming their second-highest run contributor.
Preston Hilless of Uplyme, carried out an impressive nine-over spell, capturing three wickets for 38 runs.
Elsworth, despite accumulating steadily, lacked consistent partners.
Hilless, Sam Farrow, and Steve Batey all made some headway, but the team's late-stage performance was disappointing as the last four wickets fell for a mere 25 runs.
Exmouth's Assah Ullah and Alvin Pollard made their mark, taking three and two wickets respectively.
Ullah took him for 45, while Pollard proved economical, two wickets for 15 runs.
Looking forward, it’s a busy week for Uplyme with midweek games against Budleigh Salterton (Ivor Dewdney Corinthian Cup) and Sidbury (East Devon T20 Bash) before Exeter II are the visitors to the King George V Playing Fields on Saturday ( 1pm start).
