A sporting dream has been realised in East Devon with the arrival of a very special colt under the ownership of horse enthusiast Kim Roberts.
Her whole life has been about horses and holding on to the dream of owning a horse that might compete, even win, at the major races in the British horseracing calendar.
“I purchased a thoroughbred mare four years ago,” said Kim. “She was bred at the famed Coolmore Stud in Ireland, where they have produced a number of world class horses.
“My mare went into training but before her first race, she suffered an accident and was unable to race, so she became a broodmare.
“Unfortunately, she didn’t conceive in Ireland and I knew it was a gamble. I called an old friend who has a stud in North Devon. He had just acquired a stallion who won the Oaks and St Ledger.
“Three months later, I got the call I had been waiting for. It has been a life’s dream to have a horse to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup or the Grand National. It was always a pipe dream, I’m nearly 70, and I just may have that horse! “
