The Budleigh Salterton Lions have lauded their Annual Golf Day as another triumph, amid it being in its 22nd year.

The charitable event, first held in 2002, involves local businesses and communities united in a lively golfing event, supporting local and national causes.

With nearly £100,000 raised since its inception, this year's event contributed nearly £3,500 more from the 34 teams participating.

On April 10, teams began the event as early as 8am, playing as many as 18 holes. Players, including locals and those from as far as Bristol and Winchester, were offered refreshments by Mr Jon Axon from Jurassic Kitchens at the tenth hole.

The day concluded with the Rolle Street Rollers being declared as the winners with a score of 91 points. The Budleigh Lions have expressed their gratitude towards Mr Graham Burch for his invaluable assistance in making this event a great success.

The President of Budleigh Salterton Lions Club, Alex McDiarmid said: "I would like to give my sincere thanks on behalf of the Club to our Service Chair Lion Gavin and all the Lions who have done such a wonderful job in organising our Golf Day.

"In the true spirit of being a Lion, their service to others has helped raise much-needed funds for good causes. We also must thank all of our sponsors, helpers and supporters, not forgetting our hosts the East Devon Golf Club and all the teams that took part, without whom our golf day would not be the success it is."
